Alexandra Allen is an Assistant Professor of Art Education at Buffalo State University. Before working at SUNY Buffalo State, she held the position of Postdoctoral Scholar of Art Education at the Pennsylvania State University. With a Ph.D. in Art Education, her research focuses primarily on individuals with non-apparent disabilities and how they develop and renegotiate their own disability identity. Alexandra continues to generate artwork that addresses issues of ableism to challenge stigmas around neurodiversity. She integrates disability awareness into her pedagogical practice and aims to uncover the ways that arts-based research can support disability identity development.
